Hello and best wishes to everyone I have ever known who treated me with respect and kindness. I miss so many people I used to know, I cannot even begin to say. The world is a big place and people lead busy lives. Friends are lost and distances grow, but I remember all of you. Welcome also to all the people I do not know or have not yet met. Thank you for being here.

I was just going to re-post this but got carried away and spent a long time editing, revising, and adding to it. Those who have seen it before will recognize that. Take a look.

We left British rule to avoid so many taxes. The difference here is that WE CAN VOTE THE MEN AND WOMEN RESPONSIBLE OUT OF OFFICE. The problem we have now is apathy.

    "All the airplanes and equipment are terrific. Takes me back to the air shows and Armed Forces Day displays I went to as a kid. I have ridden in tanks kind of like the ones you saw.Makes me feel old to realize I lived that history. Your Dad’s jeep was red and some of the scariest rides I ever took were in that jeep. I noticed the play equipment at the school. In California you can’t have that stuff, might get some one hurt. No rubber “bark” underneath? Unheard of. A slide made out of metal and with no high sides? Never. And a teeter totter? Some one should be ashamed. My favorite picture is that old boat. Spending his old age looking for water?"

    "Like the photo of Dennis in front of the Blue Angels plane. I’m pretty sure we’ve all seen them fly at airshows. Also like the last shot quite a bit, too. They do both look relaxed and content. Wish I could see you all more often! Although if I’d been there I’d have been MUCH more interested in the cemetery than the planes and missiles and things. That’s just me. :) "

    "Very cool!! I, too, enjoy a good fire as long as no one is getting hurt. There are a couple of pictures where you are showing most of the fire fighters just standing and watching, but there is one guy moving in the fore ground who is just a blur. Makes him look kind of like a ghost. Like those. Amazing the color of the fire reflecting off the houses across the street."

    The hike up Dog Mountain with Portland Outdoor Adventurers Club was my first ever outing with any internet group. There were about 25 people signed up for the hike, but only five showed up and that included the event host and me. Oh well, it was still a good experience and the people very friendly. I have learned since that it is normal for only about half of the people to show up. The rest probably stayed home because of the bad weather. Even though it was June 20th, the good summer weather had not yet arrived here in northern Oregon.

    This post is out of chronological order. I misplaced these photos from mid-June in the wrong folder.

    The hike was not very long, but that was ok. It was still a pleasant introduction to meetup.com.

    Saw Black Bear today on this hike. About a mile and half into the hike on the “more difficult ” trail. Bear was coming down hill and did not come at me. I have never been as scared as I was today. I will not be doing this hike again ALONE or unless there are many others around. Please be careful. ”

    This was my second hike with Portland Outdoor Adventurers Club, a meetup.com group. The first was at Dog Mountain across the river on the Washington side of the Gorge. Where are the photos from that? That is a very good question. I will work on that. The Dog Mountain hike had been cold and rainy. The Wyeth Trail was cloudy, and cold at the top, but at least no rain. Welcome to June and July in northern Oregon. Again, as with the first hike, I met very friendly people and had a great time, while also seeing scenery and getting exercise. What is better than that?

    I had a very relaxing and enjoyable Memorial Day this year. It was great to spend time with my dad and brother at a place I really enjoy. My brother came out from Vancouver and we drove together to Mc Minnville to meet my dad at Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. They had not been to the museums before. Yes, I have taken pictures there before. I like it and may do so again. They have a ton of wonderful stuff in there. We also watched a 3-D IMAX movie about the Hubble Space Telescope, which I totally loved. After the museums and movie we drove to Bethel, Oregon. It used to be a town a long time ago but all that are left are the school and cemetery. Some of my ancestors used to live there, including my great great grandfather. My dad wanted to see if he could find their graves.

    I love watching fire, especially at night. One evening a neighbor of mine sent me a text saying the Forest Grove Fire Department was burning a house a few blocks from me, over near where my business used to be on C Street. I was at home doing nothing useful and grabbed my camera and ran out the door to go watch it and take photos.

    Here for your browsing pleasure I have foreign bank notes, collectibles, bass guitars, gigantic little tree, Medusa, Murano glass, lawn equipment+electronics, homes old and new, a church for sale, dead businesses, Intel, Hillsboro Airport, pretty office buildings, theater lights, printer upgrade, Jack and the Nightmare crew, my census responses, my friend’s back patio and plants, somebody’s cat (not the one on my porch), car accident, bikers and troop welcome back, evening shots around Forest Grove, green grass and blue skies, a dead possum, colorful loving giraffes, neighbors building painted, things on craigslist, REI steal of a deal, and more.
