Welcome to Passing Perception, a photo blog by me, Steven Morrisroe.
I am 35 and live in Forest Grove, Oregon in the United States.
Here I share my photos, thoughts, and interests with my family, friends, self, and the world.

Preview of the design for my new Wells Fargo Business Platinum Check Card.

Hello and best wishes to my cousins on my mom's side, Sara and Beth. I wish we didn't all live at the far corners of the country and got to hang out together. We are in Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Southern California, Virginia, and New York City. That is not conducive to good family relations. I hope everyone will stay in touch more now.
Hello also to my cousins Rachael and Stephanie on my dad's side. Feel free to comment here or send me messages any time. Stephanie lives in Los Angeles and Rachael somewhere around Sacramento or Roseville. I hope you are both doing well. I just looked at more of your Facebook photos.

My moment of Zen, whenever I need it.
The hypocrisy is deep, widespread, mind-blowing, and sickening.
These transcripts were done by me. I apologize for any errors. I also promise that five years from now I will not say exactly the opposite and deny reality.

Barrak Obama "...hasn't gotten his way, uh and that is now prompting uh, you know, a change in the Senate rules that really I think would change the character of the Senate, uh forever. And what I worry about would be you essentially have still two chambers, the House and the Senate, but you have simply majoritarian uh absolute power on either side, and that's just not what the founders intended."

Hillary Clinton "So this president had come to the majority here in the Senate and basically said, change the rules. Do it the way I want it done. And I guess there just weren't very many voices on the other side of the aisle that acted the way previous generations of Senators have acted, and said Mr. President, we're with you, we support you, but that's a bridge too far. We can't go there. You have to restrain yourself, Mr President.

Chuck Schumer "We are on the precipice of a crisis, a constitutional crisis. The checks and balances that have been at the core of this republic are about to be evaporated by the nuclear option. The checks and balances which say that if you get 51% of the vote, you don't get your way 100% of the time. It is amazing. It is almost a temper tantrum.

Harry Reid "Mr. President, the right to extended debate is never more important than when one party controls congress and the White House. In these cases a filibuster serves as a check on power and preserves our limited government.

Dianne Feinstein "The nuclear option, if successful, will turn the Senate into a body that could have its rules broken at any time by a majority of Senators unhappy with any position taken by the minority. It begins with Judicial nominations. Next will be executive appointments, and then legislation.

Joe" Biden "This nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power. It is a fundamental power grab..."

Harry Reid "No, we are not going to follow the Senate rules. No. Because of the arrogance of power of this Republican administration.

Chris Dodd (screaming) "I've never passed a single bill, worth talking about, that didn't have as a lead co-sponsor a Republican! And I don't know of a single piece of legislation that's ever been adopted here that didn't have a Democrat and a Republican in the lead. That's because we need to sit down and work with each other. The rules of this institution have required that. That's why we exist. Why have a bicameral legislative body? Why have two chambers? What were the framers thinking about, 218 years ago? They understood, Mr President, that there is a tyranny of the majority.

Dianne Feinstein "If the Republican leadership insists on forcing the nuclear option, the Senate becomes ipso facto, the House of Representatives, where the majority rules supreme and the party in power can dominate and control the agenda with absolute power."

Hillary Clinton "You've got majority rule and then you've got this Senate over here where people can slow things down, they can debate where they have something called the filibuster. You know it seems like it's a little less than efficient. Well that's right, it is, and deliberately designed to be so."

Joe Biden "I say to my friends on the Republican side, you may own the field right now, but you won't own it forever. I pray God when the Democrats take back control we don't make the kind of naked power grab you are doing."

Chuck Schumer (pounding his fist) "They want their way every single time. And they will change the rules, break the rules, misread the Constitution, so that they will get their way." Hillary Clinton "The senate is being asked to turn itself inside out, to ignore the precedent, to ignore the way our system has worked, the delicate balance we have obtained that has kept this constitutional system going, for immediate gratification of the present president.

Max Baucus "This is the way, democracy ends, not with a bomb, but with a gavel."

Steven Morrisroe "I can't believe these people keep getting re-elected. It is a disgrace. We can do so much better. Do you really want lying self-serving frauds to represent you?.

These Obama clips are PRICELESS. He is a pathological liar and I got crap for saying that was obvious about him long before the election. Amazing how easily people are fooled and how poorly they read people. QUIT VOTING FOR LIARS AND HIPOCRITES!

"The bottom line is, is that our health plans are similar. The question once again is, who can get it done? Who can build a movement for change? This is an area where we're gonna have to have a 60% majority in the Senate and the House in oreder to actually get a bill to my desk. We're gonna have to have a majority to get a bill to my desk. That is not just a 50 plus one majority."

"You've got to break out of what I call the sort of 50 plus one pattern of presidential politics. Maybe you eek out a victory of 50 plus 1, then you can't govern. You get Air Force One, I mean there are a lot of nice perks, but you can't deliver on health care. We are not going to to pass universal health care with a 50 plus one strategy."

"One of the arguments that sometimes I get with my fellow progressives and some of these have flashed up in the blog communities on occaision is this notion that we should function sort of like Carl Rove where we identify our core base, we throw 'em red meat, we get a 50 plus one victory. See, Carl Rove doesn't need a broad concensus he doesn't believe in government. If we want to transform the country though, that requires a sizaeable majority."

"I am very excited to have comments. Thank you both. To my mom: I will keep learning about the geology that makes minerals look the way they do. I have been reading about it. Mc Mennamins had by far the worst veggie/garden burger I have ever had. It was weird and unpleasant. You have plenty of critters where you are. Beth, thank you so much for looking and participating. I am really happy about it. I am glad you like photos of random things. I do a lot of that. By the way, I fixed the non-clickable thumbnail previews. I always forget to add that because it has to be done after the post is published. "

"i like the pictures of random things (like the close ups of the stained glass lamps)… also, it’s really nice that you have family close enough to see on a regular basis (and you take a thousand pictures of them so that i can see them too)."

"My goodness! What a lot of different stuff! I feel like I just followed you around for a few days. I remember that restaurant from a few years ago when we had lunch there. Back then you had that massive hamburger, took all the vegetables off, and only ate the meat, cheese, and fried egg. Times have changed. I love your rocks. I hope you are finding out why they look like they do. Your dad is going to laugh about your core wheel. We had one for years. I wish I could go out to the wetlands and just sit and watch the critters. Thanks for all the pictures."

I use a post each month for miscellaneous photos and thoughts that do not need a dedicated post. It is also a place for anyone to leave comments about anything or just to say hello. Thank you for being here and please let me know you were here. I probably should have separated out my dad’s visit, but didn’t.

At long last, here are my photos from the week of Christmas, 2009. Yes, I know it is March 2010 now. I apologize for the delay. This post is the biggest deal on my site since my brother and sister graduated from college, each of them twice. My mom flew up to Oregon from California and my sister from New York to stay at my house in Forest Grove. It was very exciting for me. I was proud. I actually had room for guests to have their own rooms and beds. That is a first in my life, as was having a Christmas at my house. Thanks to everyone, including my brother who came from Vancouver, Washington and my dad from Tillamook/Yachats, Oregon. Usually we are split up between California and Oregon. 2009 was the only time in my adult life that I got to see both my parents and both sibling during the holidays.

Life’s moments pass by only once, I grab many on the way by and keep them to share. Enjoy.

    Welcome

I use this page each month for miscellaneous photos and thoughts that do not justify a dedicated photo post. It is also a place for anyone to leave comments about anything or just to say hello. Thank you for being here and please let me know you were here.

My January header image above is from three photos. The first is that great tree in the trash image, the second and third are from the first valley snow of the season. One is at my business in Cornelius. The other is the “Welcome to Forest Grove” sign on the way into town from the east. I love snow.

Even though the photos here are from (for) my “Miscellaneous Photos, Tidbits, and Your Comments – January, 2010″ page, the vast majority of them never made it there in January and have not yet been seen. There are photos of or about, silver solution mail, H1N1 shot, bluetooth devices, my 2010 business license, rearranging the shop, Brian’s $75 car, Walmart progress, fake cheese, Portland at night, Pioneer Place mall, e-bay item, +P+ ammo, beautiful blue Challenger, black Chuck Taylors, no wind damage, target practice (twice), Dave in Cornelius, reels safe, Gem Faire, rainbow, Hi-Lift Jack and accessories, field stripping, and more.

Some weeks ago I went to “America’s Largest Christmas Bazaar” at the EXPO. I had planned it for a while. I had a postcard style ad at home that I picked up at the Portland SkiFever Ski & Snowboard Show 2009 with my brother. When he heard about my trip to the Christmas Bazaar he said, “You actually went to that?” Whatever. I like seeing all sorts of things. Maybe you do too. Thanks to my down-the-street neighbor and friend, Jonna, for being willing to go with me. Also thanks for being a good sport about being in some photos, which is more than can be said for the Obama a-hole at the show.

After the show I drove under the freeway to nearby PIR to see the “Winter Wonderland” lights I always see advertised. Mostly I just wanted to drive on the track. Verdict? The lights are in disrepair, outdated, and overpriced. I was still very happy to be on the racetrack, even if it was at 3 mph following minivans. I just absolutely positively must find a way to get a car for track days and/or racing out there. Anyway, check out a whole lot of photos.

P.S. Geese? Yes, I have a difficult time not stopping for giant flocks of birds.

I took these on December 6th, 2009. There are 196 photos. Hey, I narrowed it down from over 250.

My dad lives at the Oregon Coast and my brother lives in Vancouver, Washington. That means I live in between them and my house is a good place for a holiday. Thanks very much to both of them for coming to my place on Thanksgiving. It was very nice to have your company. It was just us three guys but we still put a dinner together. I warn you though, if you are a “foodie” or way into great cooking, you may want to look away. None of us cook much, so we didn’t. As in the past with just us we heated up food instead of making any of it ourselves. It is a lot less work.

    Dec 31

This would usually be my archive of misc photos for December and I suppose it sort of still is. I didn’t have very many “misc” photos so I am adding a whole bunch of photos of holiday lights in Forest Grove, Oregon. There are also photos of guitars and gear at work, my outside cat friend getting a heated bed, my house, car wash, trip to Portland to buy a guest bed, new things at work (tv, handgun), and progress on local Walmart.

The day before Thanksgiving my dad and Dave drove over from the coast so we could play golf together at Quail Valley in Banks. I had been there before but it looked a whole lot different. The day before had been beautiful and sunny. When I got up that day I saw it was extremely foggy and wet out. Thankfully it did not rain, but it was way past damp all over anyway. Did I mention COLD? The sun did not come out until it was about to go down, which this time of year is about 4PM.

It turned out alright because it gave me a chance to take pictures in a whole new atmosphere there. I am very happy about this post. I enjoy these photos very much. I hope you do to. To me golf is just an excuse to do some nature photography in a very beautiful place. I know photos of golf sound boring, but give this post a chance. It is all about the surroundings. This post took me at least 10 hours, not counting taking the pictures. Thanks for being here to make it worthwhile.
