Just got home and the TV and DVD player were waiting for me. Wow!!! I’ve never owned anywhere near such a classy TV! Now I just need to find a way to carry the old, tube, faded-screen, permanent-closed-captioning TV down to the street (which is where it came from in the first place anyway). THANKS!

Yes, been lots of volcanoes. The pompom grasses are called bear grass. I just learned that recently. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/lewisandclark/record_species_361_18_3.html “Native Americans used the leaves to weave garments and baskets and ate the roasted rootstock.Other common names for this plant are squaw grass, elk grass, turkeybeard, bear lily, and pine lily.”

All those big and small cones sure tell you why the land looks like it does. I am curious about those white pompom grasses. I wonder what they are. That giant nest has to be hawks. Eagles? Such beautiful places you get to see.

I’m with you: I much prefer playing miniature golf (or “putt-putt,” as they insist on calling it on the East Coast) but on the other hand I’d rather stroll along a real golf course any day. I find it very funny you got Daddy to play with you. Wonder if it uses the same skills!

And yes, Whole Foods makes great vegan cakes (and I’ve had some terrible ones from elsewhere) but MAN are they expensive. I thought about buying one for my then-boyfriend for his birthday in January but it would have been more than my monthly grocery bill.

The tall plant in your back yard, did it bloom? The leaves look like hollyhocks, but I have only seen them that tall in Michigan. I love the sun you did. Nice job! Of course I eat dinner out or to go every night. What? Been doing it for 18 years now.

Snails came in with fish/water from purchased fish. I know, I am not supposed to allow the outside water in, only the fish. I am lazy.

Sorry again about TV. Why is TV supposed to be capitalized? That makes no sense. Spell check always irritates me with that.

I don’t have much yard, and I haven’t had time to do anything with it. I am always at work.

Do you really eat dinner out like every night?: You know it’s cheaper to make it yourself, right? Like the comment about the mushrooms in butter. I wonder if the veganism is contributing to you being healthy and slim. I find it’s darn near impossible to gain weight while vegan. We only eat good fats!

Love that you had what we call a “granny cart” for a while. Here, even normal people use them to go to the store. I refuse and use tote bags for groceries instead.

How do snails find their way into an aquarium? Like the cory fish photos.

I’m not usually a fan of firearms but I know how lucrative they can be so I’m glad you’re able to sell them now!

Like the sun, the stickers, the glass jewelry.

And don’t worry about the TV! I’ll take it whenever and if you get around to sending it!

So jealous that you have a yard. Glad you’re making use of it.

Good for you toning down the labels on things. I also refuse to wear clothing trumpeting the name of a company.

All the airplanes and equipment are terrific. Takes me back to the air shows and Armed Forces Day displays I went to as a kid. I have ridden in tanks kind of like the ones you saw.Makes me feel old to realize I lived that history. Your Dad’s jeep was red and some of the scariest rides I ever took were in that jeep.
I noticed the play equipment at the school. In California you can’t have that stuff, might get some one hurt. No rubber “bark” underneath? Unheard of. A slide made out of metal and with no high sides? Never. And a teeter totter? Some one should be ashamed.
My favorite picture is that old boat. Spending his old age looking for water?

Like the photo of Dennis in front of the Blue Angels plane. I’m pretty sure we’ve all seen them fly at airshows. Also like the last shot quite a bit, too. They do both look relaxed and content. Wish I could see you all more often!

Although if I’d been there I’d have been MUCH more interested in the cemetery than the planes and missiles and things. That’s just me.

Very cool!! I, too, enjoy a good fire as long as no one is getting hurt. There are a couple of pictures where you are showing most of the fire fighters just standing and watching, but there is one guy moving in the fore ground who is just a blur. Makes him look kind of like a ghost. Like those. Amazing the color of the fire reflecting off the houses across the street.

Okay, I have been through these twice. Always interesting. I love the wetlands pictures, always do. It is so different from here where everything dries up completely. I loved the sunset from the roof, very pretty. The pouring rain pictures were amazing. All your yard work seems to be paying off. Looks good. It was not a race. Just people who meet to run. Many have been training for half and full marathons. In 6 weeks or so I will be as fast as most of them.

Whoa. I was just going to call and tell you I had new photos up but you already “I looked at all these twice”. Thank you. I like curly trees too. The ones near the funeral home have ferns growing on them. You don’t see that in fry northern CA. That neighborhood has awesome houses. Unfortunately you are not allowed to live there unless you have an Omaba sticker on your car and protest any attempt by anyone to make a living, so we are both out. I am glad someone else appreciates photos of things like lights, walls, and corridors. I sure am glad you like my site. I would do all of it even if it were just for you. Have a good night.

I looked at all these twice. Right now I think I am on overload. Comments – You can buy just about anything in the most amazing looking shops. I liked the curly trees, very interesting. I could live in that beautiful neighborhood, I picked out 4 or 5 houses I like. Just about my favorite picture here is the “don’t post here” post. Hilarious! For some reason my favorite photo is the round light fixture against the brick wall. The posters are very funny, colorful, and none are advertising anything I want to see. Happy crocuses.

I enjoyed looking at your Christmas photos and the dialogue that went along with them. Then I looked at these pictures and comments and again was impressed with all of the work that you put into this site. Good job!
I am also interested in your family name and the origins of your family. Did they come from Ireland? Was it by chance County Mayo/Roscommon? Since last August 2009 I have been involved with family genealogical research on the Morrisroe family. To date I have around 1700 names of my ancestors and cousins and will be travelling to Ireland the 2nd week of April to research my ancestors there and to meet relatives. If you have time let me know about your ancestors.

I am very excited to have comments. Thank you both. To my mom: I will keep learning about the geology that makes minerals look the way they do. I have been reading about it. Mc Mennamins had by far the worst veggie/garden burger I have ever had. It was weird and unpleasant. You have plenty of critters where you are.

My goodness! What a lot of different stuff! I feel like I just followed you around for a few days. I remember that restaurant from a few years ago when we had lunch there. Back then you had that massive hamburger, took all the vegetables off, and only ate the meat, cheese, and fried egg. Times have changed. I love your rocks. I hope you are finding out why they look like they do. Your dad is going to laugh about your core wheel. We had one for years. Wow o wow! First, thanks a million times for all your hard work in taking these and in posting them. Also:
- I can’t believe no one has yet bought me that monkey (or the dog version) that rolls around laughing on the floor. My life would be a thousand times better with that in it.
- Never take photos of people eating. Yipes.
- Damn, I am really pale midway through an East Coast winter.
- That one photo of Daddy in his red shirt is really wonderful!
- Looking at all those photos of me as master chef on Christmas makes me think I should have pulled my hair back. How unprofessional of me!
- There are some truly great photos of the family together here, Steven. Thanks for capturing them. And in some of them Dennis even has his eyes open!
I might comment more once I’ve had a chance to look at them a second time.

Whoa, check out the long comment. Thanks so much for the interest, Carolyn. The board choice gets reduced quite a bit when you narrow it down to your sex, board size, type of riding, and price range/quality. Cross country skis and gear have come a long way. Everything is lighter, faster, and more efficient. I’d like some snowshoes so I can hike.

Conditions at Mt. Hood Meadows right now “Snowing hard with 6-10″ on the way!”

I think it is fun that my site comes up in Google for so many things.

Cool that they have a skate ramp there. I’m fascinated by the intersection of the cultures of snowboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding, and surfing.

I like the colorful snowboard pants. I was just telling someone the other day about how we used to go skiing in jeans with long underwear. Which meant sitting in wet jeans the whole bus ride home. Ah, the glory days.

Re: Cross-country skiing. We did that one year when Bear didn’t have enough snow for downhill. It was challenging but very peaceful and meditative! I think you’ll like it, if you aren’t bored by it.

That’s so funny someone recognized you guys! You’re famous!

i’m about to embark on exactly the same “adventure” as you put it…..
I found a compaq d530 board (the same as yours) and will attempt to install a Sapphire Radeon 3850 AGP, same model as you…with xp and everything and an 23″ HD monitor…4 gb ram, intel Pentium 4 Prescott 2.8 ghz with Hyper-Threading and a Sunbeam 120 Tuniq Tower… This is really just an experiment, to see how Hyper-Threading @ 3.0-3.2 ghz with a 256 bit GDDR3 AGP Card stacks up to a modern dual core at the same frequency with say a 9800GT and so on… I’m mostly a system builder, but believe I can understand what you went through building that thing…

The lame thing about frames is that the frame size ratios are nowhere near as wide as digital camera images. 8×10 cuts off practically a third of the width. There is often little choice though. I don’t know why the big mismatch.

Carolyn, as soon as I saw your messages I searched for and collected those photos you asked for, even the ones put away on a hard drive in the safe. I have them all in a folder. I can post them for you to download but also have plenty of paper to print them for you. Do you want them all the same size? At 8×10 a big chunk of the image has to be cut off because it is so square. If you trust me to do the cropping I can do that, print, and send them as soon as I get the photo magenta ink I ran out of two days a go. I have lots of the rest. I can get the ink today. Let me know. Thanks for you interest in my photos. That is very nice of you.

Any chance you could send me the hi-res files for the dandelion and the drops-on-leaves ones that you posted large? Or print me out some 8x10s and mail them? Thank you very much for the compliments. “I think some body made them and stuck them in the ground there.” made me laugh so hard I almost choked on my dinner. They are obviously the seed pod part of the cycle after something finished doing its thing in the spring, but I have no idea what. I appreciate you always commenting. You are often the only one. If I didn’t have your comments I might lose interest in doing it.

What do I say? You have an amazing talent. Many of these pictures should be on walls every where. They should be a book or a calendar. You need to have some up in the shop and sell them. People will buy them. I kind of hate it when you put up so many photos in the same post, because it makes it almost impossible to comment. The round, dried flower things with the poppies and the Queen Anne’s Lace are nothing I have ever seen before. I think some body made them and stuck them in the ground there. I want to live in the white house and have your cow friend out back. I like the pink, fuzzy flowers by the road. I like the teeny plants in the puddle. I like them all.

Nice hostas, beautiful cake, sweet grill, gross meat. Looks like you had some corn on there, too, so that’s something, at least. Someone buy Dennis some sunglasses so he doesn’t shoot the evil eye at you like that. Yikes. Also, someone fly to NY and buy me a birthday cake this February. Been years since I had one. I sure remember carolyn!!! I think that was the day I had my telephoto lens
and was taking a lot of pictures of you! we all yelled at you that the ball was

It is not possible to have too many pictures of giraffes or baby elephants. I love the people pictures. We used to go to the state fair when my gram lived with us. We would just leave her sitting on a bench near the beer booth, where she could get her one an hour beer, and she would spend the day watching the people. She would spend days after that talking about what she saw.

Speaking of chasing butterflies in the outfield, I wonder if Daddy remembers the time I got boinked in the head playing left field in softball. The ball never came out there so I mostly looked at clouds and counted clovers. I remember that the the seams of the ball were imprinted on my head.

I realized long ago that the Morrisroes are athletic in their own way, but bad at team sports. Tennis, running, rollerblading … anything we can do on our own, we have the potential to excel at. (Which makes it hard for me b/c all my friends are into organized adult sports and I refuse to participate.) But I’ve read that being an individual-sports enthusiast means you have a regimen you can sustain your whole life. (I.e., what happens when there’s no on left to play football with? But running … ) So bravo to you.

I cringe when I see my golf swing! looks like I’m chopping a log with an axe!
your mom is right about the way you are. I remember you chasing butterflies in the outfield
instead of watching for the ball.

we’ll have to get everyone together to play there again soon. great birthday photos. loved the one of
the fork almost to daves mouth. Think I’ve about maxed out couldn’t possibily look any older in future
photos

Rusty stuff, yep very cool. Reflectors, shredded paper, and fried clif bars. I love the different things you see. I always have to pick a favorite so I choose the rainy day. It has been so long since I have seen rain.

That was a lot of fun. Thanks for posting the pictures. Like you said it brings back the memories like it was yesterday. Your right Dennis is the only one of us that has anything close to a golf swing, you can really see that on the pictures of your Dad, Dennis and me (to bad we didn’t have one of you to put beside those three).
I wish we could all go play that course again someday.

You were right when you told me about that course. It is more park than anything. Beautiful. I wish I had been there for your birthday, and Dennis’ too. Maybe some day we will be closer. Your caption on the picture of the leaf, about how while every one else was thinking about golf you were off some where looking at a leaf, made me laugh because you have spent a lot of your life looking at leaves while others were doing something else. It’s kind of who you are.

Dangit! Who would run a store on dismal Main Street Angels Camp when you could have one in Murphys? The rent’s probably cheaper, though.

Also, I wanted to say how interesting it was read your memories, Steven, and to realize that everyone has totally different remembrances of even the same little place. We should wander around Murphys at the same time one of these years and compare notes.
