There are many photos in this archive that were added a few days into December. If you didn’t look at the misc photos section for November that recently, you missed quite a few. Please take a look.

The photo above is from Angel’s Rest in Columbia River Gorge, one of my now old favorite places. I am proud of how I got the words to somewhat match the dead trees. Somewhat.

This is how boring, slow, and lonely it is at work. I have been (when not working on this blog) scanning cartoons out of an old Far Side book I bought for $2 and cutting them out to put up in my kitchen or somewhere. It is 4:33 P.M. and no one has bought anything. I just sit here alone. Oh, wait, I did just have to threaten arrest to get a guy to stop giving me the finger and screaming insults at me after I politely helped him. He was rude so I told him he needed to learn some manners and he got all loud and horrible. He needs to be in prison. Sons of bitches. I HATE trash.
On the other hand I LOVE Gary Larson’s work.
Carolyn, I am putting the big frog one up at home to remind me of you.

Yesterday I was cleaning a steering wheel an pedals for older Playstation systems before I put it out for sale. I looked it up on e-bay to see prices and found one just like it. People continue to amaze me with their laziness and filthiness.
Check this out. Unbelievable.

Here is mine.
This is what it looked like outside here at nearly noon. My sign and parking lot lights were still on due to darkness.

Here is my view of my two webcams. I really like having two to share with everyone and the ability to monitor both at the same time. The new program is much more stable than the old one. I can of course view each on-screen by itself larger also.

I did a big water change, cleaning, and filter cartridge change of my aquarium today. It was overdue.

That is better.

I have some good things to share.
Mm, Taco Bell. Healthy, no. Convenient to no longer have to drive to Hillsboro for late night “Mexican” food, yes. Nice Taco Bell photo right?

I have started getting a few decorations together to festive-up the inside of my house for the holidays. I like any excuse to decorate. I tend to do my holiday decorations in blue and silver.

The cat friend who used to hang out on my porch at the old house, has found me again and semi moved to my new porch. It still gets its meals from the same people, but started sleeping on a chair on my new porch. I just happened to have its old blankets (including a mini down blanket) in my basement, cleaned and ready to go. I put them on the chair for the cat and it seems to really appreciate it. I am going to buy a heated bed for it.
When I come home I pet the cat and say, “Good Kitty”, so I was happy to find the perfect stocking. Aw.

This bottle of waterproofing stuff cost me 20-something dollars at REI. I made the mistake of washing my expensive 686 snowboarding pants a few times last year. Apparently that ruins the waterproofing. I will try to replenish it. I will also put an extra layer of protection on my gloves and softshell jacket.

This is one blue tree and I love it. I ordered this mini tree online and was excited when it was delivered. I had to spend quite a while bending it into tree shape. It is now on a table at my house in front of a mirror. I like it very much. The tree is so damn blue it messed with my camera. It does not look quite look like that in person.

I already have a bigger wreath from a few years back that matches the little one shown here. The bigger one is on my front door. The stocking is for me I like it a lot. Snowmen make me happy.

This is the view from my couch of my coffee table at home last night. I need a lot of input to keep me from too much boredom. I watch nothing but HD on TV, almost always with DVR and no commercials. Of course my laptop is always there with the fastest connection I can buy. The 24″ Dell monitor is new. I bought it for my yet to be purchased new desktop computer. That may take a while. I had it set up on a desk on the other side of my living room, connected to my old desktop pc. I have borrowed it to the table now because I brought an XBOX 360 home from work. There are very few video games I enjoy, but I have found a couple. Most notably Forza Motorsport 3. It is simply gorgeous. I use HDMI to connect the XBOX, and borrowed a set of computer speakers and sub from my business. The XBOX is of course online also.
This would be a pretty good photo except that my avatar blinked his eyes. I like making avatars. He looks like me. Sort of.

There he is with his eyes open but the image was exposed to show my delicious burrito from Chipotle, which of course I modify and add to. Mmm, spicy.
When I got tired of driving I connected my laptop to the big monitor and watched some of a lecture about cosmology and physics at NASA.

These photos are from today. I wanted to share my new snowboard helmet. It was such a great deal. Hardly any helmets are under $100, and most well over. I paid $49.93 for it at an REI closeout sale. That is a way great deal.

If you pull the liner out you can remove the vent plugs (the red) if it gets too warm. Some more expensive helmets have a slider or dial on the outside of the helmets to vent, but I didn’t want to pay $80 extra for that. The helmet has a plastic strap that snaps to hold goggles in place at the back.

So how do I look in my helmet and goggles? I am trying to be positive a bout it but I am not thrilled. I will try to keep thinking I just look like someone who cares about his head. It is difficult to hear with it on. Everything is muffled. Hopefully I will get used to it.

There it is with my board and a bunch of other things my friends will not do with me. Yet. It is great to have indoor room for my stuff. My rollerblades, camping stuff, boarding pants, and tons of other things are in my basement. I have TONS of storage room down there. Hooray for a bigger house.

Yesterday when driving through Cornelius I saw that the house/building across the intersection from my business had been burned down. I knew it was going to be done but I wanted to watch. When they burned down a building down the street last summer the fire department came and notified me a week before. I took a few shots of the still smoldering remains this afternoon. I like it as a field now, but it will probably not stay that way for long.
First, this is what it looked like over there last month.

Here it is today.

Thursday, November 19th, 2009
I just had to deal with some rude redneck jackass trying to start trouble in here by insulting me and my business. I refused to even respond except to tell him to get out. He of course had to run his mouth more so I threatened to call police. His bitch of a girlfriend started to spout off too, saying she works for City of Cornelius, as if that gives her boyfriend special permission to be a rude asshole and start trouble in local businesses. I cut her off and had to threaten arrest for trespassing to get rid of them. Boy does Cornelius have some horrible people. I had a customer here at the same time. He said the guy tried to act all tough with him when he came in too and was glad I got rid of him. I want my business to be a place where good people feel comfortable and troublemakers know they are not welcome. It is a process that takes time to sort out every time we open a business in a new location. It is stressful but in the end makes for a different kind of business, one with much of the scum filtered out and good people left to enjoy.
To get away from stressful I am now going to share some very happy and pleasant things with you.
Yesterday I received an update on one of the four kids around the world I sponsor through Plan USA.
As I have said in the past, it is wonderful to have an organization that helps children and communities without forcing religion on them, as so many other groups do. Plan USA is extremely worthwhile. Go check them out.

This update was about Omar and his family, who live in Bolivia. He has recovered from recent illness and I am glad to see him looking healthy. He is growing quickly and looks much older now. The update includes information about what has been going on in his community but I have left that out to keep him more anonymous (as requested by PLAN USA who I see is now also following me on Twitter).

In addition to the update and new photos of Omar, I also received a big packet of stuff, the “2009 Holiday Gift Catalog”. There are actually two “catalogs”. One is “Gifts of Joy”, which are toys and art supplies you can buy for the kids. I think I skipped that last year and will definately be doing it third year. Most people would be amazed how much a small amount of money or gift means in many countries. Many of the countries where PLAN works have a per capita income of $500 to $1500 per year. When you realize this, your small (to you) amount of money seems a lot more important. It is only $24 a month to sponsor a child. I sponsor four and it is still under a hundred dollars a month. That is very little to help a lot. We spend billions in our country to pay for lazy people who should be working. Why not spend just a fraction of that to give kids the basics and a chance to live healthy and go to school?
The other is “Gifts of Hope”, which allows you to help pay for things like supplementary food, clean water, stoves, vaccinations, anti-malaria nets, school supplies, library books, teacher training, hygiene and latrines, school construction, agricultural training, vocational training, and the Microfinance Initiative. You may pick out specific needs or just ask to have the money used where most needed.
I have been neglecting writing to the kids I sponsor for a while and feel bad about that. I will do it now.

After work yesterday I went to Fred Meyer and bought a few more items to decorate my house for winter. I like happy beautiful things. They help cheer me up after the horrible way I get treated at work.
I really like these little glass tea light candle holders. I love blue and will use them even after the holidays.

These snowflake candle things are nice. I took them out later and they are on one of my living room tables with candles. This stuff is all inexpensive but I get a lot of enjoyment from them. Sorry for these dark photos. I did not use flash.

I bought some matching little snowflake garland for the upper part of my miniature blue tree. The bottom 2/3 have blue and silver jingle bell strands. I also bought a thick strand of garland that is silver with blue snowflakes. I somehow deleted the photo of it, but it is the same but opposite of the blue garland way up the page. I wrapped the silver one around the base of the tree like a pile of snow.

I bought 2 new blue light bulbs to put in the light on my front porch. The light is over the porch itself, not right at the door. I was disappointed that the blue does not quite cover the whole bulb, but it will work out better I think. The bare white part will make the light brighter, but still tinted blue. See? Thinking positively.

Look at the mini little garland. I love it. I want to use it on my tree. Maybe the snowflake strand will have to go elsewhere, or mayebe I will just pile it all on. (carefully of course since I am picky)

You may have seen my decorative door mat for Halloween. Now I have one for winter. Look how happy it is! Aw, what a nice snowman.

Here is what I talked about on Twitter last night. I absolutely love my new polar bear greeting statue. It was not in the Christmas section at the store. It was way on sale in the garden department. They only had one and I like it very much. I was excited when I bought it and the checkout girl said, “Your wife will like it.” I told her I don’t have a wife, but I like it. She stopped smiling and got all uncomfortable. It kind of brought me down to think about not having someone at home to share with, but such is life. It is by my front door so hopefully other people will like it.

Here are more photos from my porch this morning. My ex-neighbors’ cat who used to hang out at my old house has found me again and semi-moved in on my new porch. It was sleeping on a chair so I got its blankets from my basement and put them on there. I still don’t feed it, except for a snack of a few Pounce in the evenings. It gets all its meals from either its “owners” or the occasional bird, squirrel, or other small prey. Yes, it did eat a full grown squirrel. It is an always outdoor cat and pretty badass. We both get grumpy but we have an understanding. To my mom, the cat really appreciates the little down throw you gave me. What could be better for a cat than sleeping on bird feathers? I’ll tell you what, the heated bed I am going to get for it. Hello kitty.

Yes, it is December, but I am behind on getting photos posted. I have more to add from November. Here they are.
I had really bright lights in my porch fixture. I put blue ones in instead, originally to match my blue/silver decorations. I never did much decorating out there though. Now the light is dimmer and bluish. I like it. It is more mellow, subtle, and wintery.

The metal wreath I had left over from my holiday village at the shop in Forest Grove.

Nice tree silhouettes in the Jack in the Box drive through.

These photos are of the Walmart construction site here in Cornelius. It is at the far west end of town, almost between Forest Grove and Cornelius. I am not endorsing Walmart. I am just showing what is going on around here. It will be the end for many local businesses that are already hanging by a thread in this recession. The site already looks different than these photos. They are making very fast progress. You can see that the building will be elevated. That lot is a flood plain. There is a ton of water around it already.

One night my Blackberry Tour told me it wanted to update the operating system and that I would not be able to make calls for two hours. They were serious. I think it took a while longer than that actually. It restarted several times. It is nice to be able to do major updates so easily, without even using the pc software and connection.

This past Monday I took the day off, after Saturday being one of my worst days at work in my entire life, no exaggeration. Assault, caveman garbage police officer, emergency room. NO FUN.
So on Monday I slept in to try to heal and then went for a drive, AWAY from work and Cornelius, and horrible people. I love to drive and explore in the country. I drove out to the north and west of Banks, up into the hills. It was extremely foggy. I got to see nice things and even got to drive off road for real. That reminds me. I REALLY need to buy a High Lift jack.
I took some snapshots to share with you. Ever wonder where your Christmas trees come from? AMong other places they come from right here around my town. Many trees here cost $10-$15 and the most expensive nobles I have seen are $25-$30. Of course they are also fresh.

You can see how going for a quiet drive in the fog taking pictures like these could be very relaxing.

Yes, that is a bed in their yard. You never know what you will see out in the country.

I love the curves of a county road out into the distance.

Up here some people live in pretty darn wet little valleys.

The road to and through this future subdivision was mostly a cat track. I enjoyed driving up there in the fog. It was a nice quiet little adventure. There is the head of some hiking trail in there too.

I really liked this view with the dark trees, bright fence and fog beyond. Stark, simple, and bold.

I always like railroad tracks. I pass these often.

I took these to send to our other store because someone was interested in the Fender Telecaster Custom. I decided to share them here too, minus some of the extras of the one guitar.

Well that is it for now. I already have misc photos from December that I will post. I also have photos from Thanksgiving and golf the day before. I will work on those next.
